Artists Arthur H Lindberg & Esther Lindberg - My Grandparents
Lindberg Art - My Grandparents
Arthur and Esther were my grandparents. Arthur is a well known Buffalo, NY artist, though only known by the local art community for
his "industrial" period. Esther was not known as an artist, she was known as a gardener and an award winning quilter. For the
past few years I have been introducing her artwork to the local art community, and donated 2 of her pieces to the
Birchfield
Penney Art Center. I have been telling people that my grandfather's real passion was landscapes and have been able to share his
landscapes with many people.

In addition to my grandfather's
industrial period, he was an amazing portrait artist. This is
a portrait he did of me when I was
six years old, it hangs in my dining room. He made his own pastels, see the box to the right of him in the photo? That box contained
an amazing range of colors. He did portaits of our family and many people in Buffalo.
He also created what we called "scrolls". They were awards or recogntion pieces awarded to different people for various reasons. He
was especially proud of the scroll he did that was presented to Queen Elizabeth from the City of Buffalo, see below. And I also
found a copy of one given to Richard Nixon
He was also known for his restorations, Charles Penney told me my grandfather used to do restorations for him, I hadn't known that previously. Below are some before and after pictures my grandfather saved.
I remember seeing pieces that he was working on in the basement of my grandparents home. I didn't appreciate exactly what he was doing at that point.
He also did Murals, this was a surprise to me. I assume these are long gone, painted over. The first one was at St, John Marons in Amherst, the second was at Shields & Co., in Buffalo.
Other things he did include, illustrations, cartoons, oil paintings, amazing pastels and wonderful watercolors. I have listed some
prices on each piece in my
online Albums.

My grandmother was born in 1901 in Worchester, Mass. and died in 1996, just short of her 95th birthday. She was an amazing gardener, you can see where I got my love of gardening from, and an award winning quilter.
Here is a picture of her with my niece, her great granddaughter Tory. And another with my kitten Sly.
Here she is with her quilts.
She and my grandfather traveled to Vermont starting in 1955, so my grandfather could paint. She got tired of watching him paint and decided to try herself. With my grandfather as her teacher, she painted many wonderful paintings along side of my grandfather. Here are a few examples:
I have some of her pieces for sale and pictures
here.
